Its solid sinks and mixes with water.And it is more difficult to polymerize than propargyl alcohol, but it cyclotrimerizes to hexamethylolbenzene (benzenehexamethanol) with a nickel carbonyl-phosphine catalyst or a rhodium chloride-arsine catalyst.
