 Sodium phosphide with cas registry number of 12058-85-4 is also known as Sodium phosphide ; Trisodium phosphide . It is a source of the highly reactive phosphide with the appearance of black solid . It can not be soluble in water and liquid CO2. Sodium phosphide with cas registry number of 12058-85-4 is employed commercially as a catalyst in conjunction with zinc phosphide and aluminium phosphide for polymer production. Sodium phosphide is highly dangerous releasing toxic phosphine upon hydrolysis. It is easy to react with water and acids to form phosphine. Na3P has been forbidden to transport on passenger aircraft, cargo only aircraft, and trains because of the potential fire and toxic hazards .
