The Acid Violet 48, with the CAS register number 12220-51-8, has other names as acid violet 48; weak acid violet n-fbl; c.i. acid violet 48; acid violet fbl; acid violet n-fbl; aminyl violet f-bl; anadurm violet m-2r; best acid violet fbl.

This is a kind of caramel powder and is soluble in water. The aqueous solution is magenta and turns in to Bordeaux after adding hydrochloric [chlorhydric] acid, with the appearance of sediment. And it is magenta in concentrated sulfuric acid and turns into light purple after dilution, with the appearance of sediments; It is brown in concentrated nitric acid;

As for its usage, it is usually used in the dyeing of wool, silk, nylon and other wool fabrics and also in the direct printing of wool and silk fabrics. When comes to its making method, it is as the followings: prepare the materials of 1-amino-4-bromo-2-anthraquinone sulfonic acid and 2,4,6-Trimethylaniline and p-t-octylphenol. Firstly, condense the 1-amino-4-bromo-2-anthraquinone sulfonic acid and 2,4,6-Trimethylaniline for the first time and then have the second condensation of p-t-octylphenol, and then sulfonate with the  fuming sulphuric acid, neutralize with alkali, and finally filtering, drying and smashing, and you could get the products.
