Propylene glycol methyl ether ,its cas register number is 1320-67-8. It also can be called Methoxy-1-propanol ; Propanol, 1(or 2)-methoxy- ; 1-propanol, 1-methoxy- and 1-methoxypropan-1-ol .It is a methoxy-alcohol derivative. Oxidizing agents convert alcohols to aldehydes or ketones. Alcohols exhibit both weak acid and weak base behavior. They may initiate the polymerization of isocyanates and epoxides. Flammable and/or toxic gases are generated by the combination of alcohols with alkali metals, nitrides, and strong reducing agents. They react with oxoacids and carboxylic acids to form esters plus water.
