With the CAS registry number 1393-88-0, Gramicidin D is also named as Gramicidin Dubos. It is white or almost white crystalline powder which is soluble in alcohol, acetic acid and pyridine, slightly soluble in anhydrous acetone and dioxane, almost insoluble in water, ether, chloroform and hydrocarbons. Additionally, this chemical should be sealed in the container and stored at the temperature of 2-6 °C. Besides, Gramicidin D can restrain gram positive bacteria. It is also used in physiological and biochemical research.
