Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 1,8-bis-hydroxymethyl-naphthalene. This reaction is a kind of Bromination. It will need reagent PBr3 and solvent CH2Cl2. The reaction time is 5 hours with reaction temperature of 20 °C. The yield is about 88%.



Uses of 1,8-Bis(bromomethyl)naphthalene: it can be used to produce acenaphthene. It will need reagent benzene and phenyl lithium.
